The house is a replacement dwelling located within the North York Moors National Park. The original building suffered major damage from a fire in 2013 and was beyond repair. The site has commanding views across a river valley.

A new stone and timber clad building has been designed in a linear fashion, to reflect the pattern of the former building. The new house has been designed to maximise the distant views from all principal rooms.
